Flower Appreciation

Felt I wanted to share this with you all.  To all the women in pain as I have just met in the High Street one of our survivors who attends one of the local groups. She is an attractive lady that suffered years of abuse.... She looks exhausted her eyes puffy with lack of sleep, still tormented with flashbacks and is still tormented with her perpetrator even though divorced.... She has raw eczema on her hands from the stress she is still going through.  You see people will think once you are out of the relationship it is over and you can get on with your life.... But no there is the journey of healing to go through.  Some perpetrators still will hold their victims in their foul evil deed claws to continue hurting with financial and emotional hassle.....

I felt I needed some flowers too with all the pain I have been experiencing this week if you read my posts on this blog you will see.  Within the proactivity I was in pain with the constant torment I am getting from the DWP and the LBH council.... We all need some peace to heal... not all this hassle from ill thought out policies that fail not support women....

I want to give flowers to all that support me with their positive thoughts and inspire me to keep going..... So I share this image of a bouquet for us all to share in love and know that we will get Women's Voices Heard.....

Help me to help that voice be loud and clear with my petition and my appeal to help women Many thanks Marjorie

Gofundme Appeal update

Last week I was in parliament to join the APPG Poverty meeting with TAP - Taxpayers against poverty, I was able to express my concern over women being failed in their journey of rebuilding their lives. It is good I have a Freedom pass to travel round London so can attend meetings like this. I am trying to get Women's Voices Heard in the need to help Empower Women Survivors on their journey to rebuild their lives.

On Sunday was good to go to a Labour Party meeting in Uxbridge Civic Centre so was able to get my voice heard by members of the Shadow cabinet - and there was great concern for the failing of the DWP on the journey of healing.
I have been busy with a powerpoint presentation for a residential weekend to Empower Women. Our local university Brunel has a Spa hotel on campus and is the perfect place to hold this....... I want this to help a charity too that looks at Domestic Violence Intervention Programmes.... so this will be great if we can forge links and help one another. We have to tackle all the issues; but my main focus is to help women heal, detox from the ugliness of violence upon them and to help them rebuild their lives. Empower and Inspire for the future rebuilt in peace and renewed strength in self and her creativity.

I hope you can help me with donations... let me know of any willingness to sponsor all I am doing..... or if you have any fundraising ideas ... thanks Marjorie

Update on my Petition

This is my recent update on my petition and sums up my week
28 JUL 2017 — In among this campaigning I am continuing to learn to understand the whole subject area of domestic violence. This book Trauma, Torture and Dissociation includes domestic violence in the look at post traumatic stress with flashbacks. I have to stress these are not out of control arguments but perpetrators systematically controlling emotionally and physically to manipulate their victims. There may be also drink and drug addiction that leads to their violence. But for the victim it is torturous to be living with a bully and someone that does not think twice at venting his violent anger on her. So when you are out I know many will think well it is over you must get on with your life. That is what we want to do but there is a journey of healing and detoxing from the ugliness of violence upon your whole being to go on. There are emotions and pains and reactive depression to the experiences you have been exposed too. Some have left over long term physical injuries to live with for the rest of their lives.

My campaigning is helping me and to address a better pathway of support for women aside me and behind me and to help those in front of me that are still healing and trying to rebuild their lives.

I am planning workshops to help with the healing process so trying my best to turn depression and dark days into being proactive.

Despite all this I am on the front-line being subject to DWP failings and spin off harassment. I went for my DWP gov work capability assessment and in this interim time of making a decision all benefits have been stopped. I cannot get my state pension as I am born in 1954 so forbidden my State pension till 66yrs in 2020. My first job and tax payments started in 1969 as a 15yrs old office junior so seems unfair i am not supported with all the contributions I have made over the years. . I am looking for paid work and for funding for all my projects... so I do try my best yet have now only my NHS pension of just less than £65 a month coming in. I will not lay down and die... I am my mothers daughter and like my mother, would do if alive l see the injustice and the perverse system that fails to support women on their journey of healing and rebuilding their lives to challenge for fairness and care! This week has been a mix of emotions. I felt I wanted to re open the case against my perpetrator who has never been brought to justice on this attack on me. I have been in liaison with the Crime Management Service and was instructed to go to the police station. The result was if there is no further evidence we can not open the case... as the CPS will just throw out the case again. So my perpetrator goes free - yet I like many survivors of domestic violence are locked up in the aftermath of their torment with the lack of financial dignity and freedom that their manipulation as led too......

But overall had a good week with meetings with friends, past colleagues who have encouraged me to continue...... and on Sunday last week in a meeting in Uxbridge was listened to by some of the members of the Shadow Cabinet who were very kind to me but very alarmed at the way the system is letting women down instead of supporting them. A society without compassion ceases to be a society..... all we need is compassionate help to heal and be supported on that journey to a rebuild of our lives.... otherwise it is like we can never escape the claws of the ugliness of violence upon us...... Thank you for your support we are nearly a 100 signatures .. lets keep going over the summer recess and see if we can go viral with more signatures as the problem is already viral affecting tens of thousands of women.... Labour family Listens

Yesterday the Labour party family listened to my cry for Women's Voices to be heard.  We had dynamic and caring members of the Shadow Cabinet....in Uxbridge Civic Centre..... the London Borough of Hillingdon being the ones that have issued me with eviction from my OAP sheltered bungalow!!! Emily held my hand throughout all I was telling her about the dangers of women being let down by the present DWP policies... she was fully engaged and listening to all I was saying... This case of me a 63yrs old DV victim being threaten with eviction from an OAP sheltered bungalow the final straw in showing how callous this government has become.   Sir Keir Starmer was shocked at my revelation and would speak with John McDonnell to help - I told him I have a petition on the go for John to challenge government on and would tweet it to him.....He was impressed that I was not laying down to die but being proactive for women aside me and behind me... and that this in fact constitutes a Breach of State Duty of Care to UN directives on care for women that have been subject to violence in war and peace time... But in honesty the pain this gives me and other women you could just curl up and give up... BUT NO NOT I! I am Lady Marjorie with stamina and concern for the injustice of all that this is causing to women in need.  I am my mother's daughter she was a strong Labour supporter and would carry the banner for social justice.... So I will keep challenging till women get the strong and stable pathway they deserve with financial dignity and renewed empowerment as they rebuild their lives.
Vincent Lo,the Labour candidate for Uxbridge & South Ruislip continues to support my cause out of great concern for all women that are being let down on their need for a Strong and Stable pathway of healing and rebuilding their lives. We have an action plan to meet soon and to visit some of our amazing ladies that are trying to rebuild after violence.  Some left with long term physical injuries that will need long term support... But with help and healing of a strong and stable pathway of support we can get a good life for these women...with peace and empowerment.
Owen Johns I spoke to and he was so utterly shocked and concerned that this was happening to me and other women.. it is a disgrace he felt with me....we cannot have a society that does this to our women who have been abused. Bailiffs, sanctions, system failing women debts, evictions are perverse...when she needs love care compassion understanding and helping hand to rebuild her life again.  Remember I am alone many women are trying to rebuild with children... and children are equally in need of help and support as all are traumatised with the violence upon them or witnessed on their mothers.
I felt loved and listened to with our politicians with so much concern and respect for all I had been through and my desire to improve the pathway for all women aside me and behind me.... Thanks also to a medical colleague and Labour Mayoral Assembly member, Dr Onkar Sahota who is concerned that this is happening to me as a nurse and midwife.  yes after 38yrs of caring for all my patients and mothers... I am treated like I am nothing with the Tory council to not support me and help me rebuild my life.... IT HURTS..! But this lady is not nothing neither are any of the women that have fallen victim to criminal perpetrators.  We have a value that needs respect, care and dignified help to rebuild our lives again. It is well known that perpetrators financially cripple their victims. So we need financial dignity restored.  I appreciated the hugs of care from all too... that was spirit strengthening for me to carry on... Thank you to the Labour Family

Voice heard in Parliament last night

I was in Portcullis House Parliament last night for the APPG meeting on Poverty. With TAP Taxpayers against poverty.  My goodness was in shock at all that was being presented.  Stats after stats, reports after reports that have been presented to government to show how many are struggling in pain with poverty. Folk that are not "something for nothing" but in need of support from a society that should be driven on compassion and the desire to keep citizens safe, healthy and well with the Maslow Hierarchy of needs met. Folk that were in mental pain that was exacerbated by failed policies policies that led to harassment from bailiffs for debts that are not really their debts.... but debts from failed system of supposed support. Folk driven to feelings of suicide or have actually committed suicide. Folk like myself having drops in benefits for 6-8 weeks sanctioned because we are in pain.. social, physical and psychological pain of needing support and absolutely in need of support.  Shameful in 2017 we have in the UK people in hunger and vitamin deficiencies yet we all pay tax. I looked out of the window from the coffee room in Portcullis house and saw the crowds outside, made up of tourists and residents and workers of this land.. and in that snapshot of a crowd I could see all the revenue being generated in this land.  The moment anyone puts a foot on British soil they start paying tax. So where the heck is it all going to then fail and cutback on support for those in need.

I was able to get over my deep concern over women that have fled domestic violence being subject to drops in support.  Women's voices got heard last night.  I stressed as an expert by experience that this is dangerous to drop support. it could lead to return to violence and her murder or her committing suicide in the post traumatic depression the journey of the aftermath puts women on.  I stressed the need to have a Strong and Stable pathway of support for the journey of healing, detoxing from the ugliness of violence upon her and rebuilding her life.  In that journey there needs some overlap of support for the time she is ready to re-enter the job market and try to work again. She wants to work and regain her financial dignity and independence but she needs help over the early six months of a new job.  We all know there are bullies in the workplace and she needs to be strong enough to cope and shine in her work environment not feel she is being bullied and put down again. Remember she has been living with a bully and abuser.  She needs time to heal. She is not a "something for nothing" benefits cheat as the Cameron policies suggest in their very badly written DWP policies.  She is a woman in need of healing and support. Some may never be able to return to work with the residual physical injuries their perpetrators inflicted upon them. We need to provide financial dignity for all her needs to be met. Out of social conscious and concern and compassion we need to do this!

Dreadful to hear the bullying and harassment that private debt collectors train their workforce to do.. How can we let a woman that has been through rape and beatings from her perpetrator then be failed by a system that leads her to be harassed and bullied by bailiffs called to collect debts that are NOT HER DEBTS but the System failing her and creating those debts?    I was able to tell the group that I had actually been impressed by a bailiff that rang me with love and care and concern.  He Said, "Marjorie we have sent all your files back the London Borough of Hillingdon as we want no part of this collection we see you as a vulnerable adult with all you have been through and are going through.  We cannot go ahead with collecting from you." I could have hugged him down the phone and told him thank you for seeing the situation and the need I am in.

I am shocked and shamed of my country when I hear that for years Government has been presented with the evidence of poverty that are a direct result from badly written policies - yet they fail to hear and see and change their acts accordingly.

Poverty and psycho-social pain in society is diagnostic of a FAILED governments and the cases I heard last night are more evidence of a Breach of State Duty of Care to Citizens.

The group agreed with me that a Society without Compassion Ceases to be a society!

Thank God for the APPG Poverty
and their acceptance of me in their meeting and for future meetings together.  The people must come together and say enough this we cannot have in 2017 Stories of poverty more from history books on 1817 than 2017...!

Please sign my petition I must continue the fight for the rights of women aside me and behind me that need a Strong & Stable Pathway of support on their journey of healing and rebuilding their lives after violence upon them.

Jill Scott "Golden"

Inspiration - Episode 6 (The Women Of Our Lives)

Watch this film through it is so beautiful and the role model it gives means no man should be hurting a woman.. It shows deep love and respect the message of all religions to love and respect one another.  I was with Afghani women yesterday and we were all asking why do men feel they can beat women? They are all the bonnie baby boys we bring into the world. So what happens for men to feel they are more powerful than the Creator of All and why do they shame themselves with their ignorance on understanding the message to love one another.  They have no respect for themselves as they hurt others.  So all the so called macho men out there in the world my message is come out of your dark ignorance and see the light of the message to care for one another.

A true man to me is not one with guns, swords and missiles but a strong man that builds houses for his community builds his community to support all in that community.  Not destroy with ignorance and some perverted delusion that he is greater than the CREATOR OF ALL.... sad really that they behave like this but the pain and devastation they cause has to be brought to account as it really is unacceptable - so from leaders to the world that support violence and order violence to the pathetic man that beats his wife .. it is time to stop! GROW UP IN EVOLUTION to be true men and care for one another. yes TRUE MEN care... Isa Jesus pbh and Mohammed Pbh CARED for all and most of respected women for all the amazing work they do to hold their families together and care and nurture new life in the world.

Beauty

A woman's beauty comes from within and shines outward for all to see. She is amazing, she is creative, she is inspiring, she is nurturing, she is caring and she can be powerful with her love. Women are amazing I watch them in the refugee camps and no matter where they are they will hold the family together. Cook and clean what space they have and try to make it home. Wash the clothes and care for the kids... and in the evening be together and be the shining woman. We love to look nice and yes it feels good to be admired and loved by our men. But it is mega hurtful when that man can turn and beat us, abuse us and control us and put us down... why is man so crazy to do this? They are all our beautiful baby boys we bear but what happens along life's way.. Tyrants and deluded egos to think they are greater than the CREATOR OF ALL.... we need to respect all creation and respect one another as we all come from the Creator of All and need to remember this to let the beauty of that Pure Love flow throughout this amazing world.

Women Together

Petition Update today
My new found friend and kindred spirit breaks my heart to see each time. An amazing young woman with mobility frame. Her perpetrator broke her back. Today she came to my home to take me round to another friend in the community in Yeading. So we took the bus together and it was so sad to think of me with my pin and plate in my fractured arm and my new friend with her broken back and chronic leg pain for life now. We maybe physical wrecks from our perpetrators but we are not wrecks as women. She is learning with her daughters and she is rebuilding her life with as much dignity as she can muster. But we need to be supported in a compassionate society that recognises the pain of all we have been through. We need that helping hand to get the dignity and freedom from all the past hurts on every aspect of our being. Just to be helped to heal, detox from the ugliness of violence and rebuild with dignity is all we are asking. Not drops in system supports like we are facing now.. but a Strong and Stable pathway of support. My new found friend and kindred spirit has such a pretty smile and such a kindly person - why on earth did her perpetrator want to beat her? I met her in the election when I was helping out... I hope that John will meet with her as I know his heart will go out to her. I will bring her to Parliament one day and something tells me she will graduate from all the studies she is doing.. alongside her young career minded daughters... She will win! I will not rest till we all win from a better support pathway. Please sign and support this campaign to challenge government to reform the DWP policies to help not hinder women as they try to rebuild their lives. Many thanks Marjorie

Reading to understand more

I have been blessed by friends other women helping me to expand on my knowledge and counselling skills.  Got a copy of this book to study further.  I have always listened to my patients and mothers when I was practising as a nurse and midwife.  My nursing took me in oncology and there was always a need to listen and counsel through pain and grieving.  I did get a certificate in counselling from Leeds University in my early days of being a newly qualified staff nurse.  Seems crazy that I fell victim to domestic violence but it knows no barriers and can happen to professionals.  I have got this book from attending an open day at a private school for psychotherapy.  It is well put together and it helps me with my counselling of my Syrian refugees too.  We are all traumatised souls that lost all and need to rebuild our lives.  It is heartwarming when I chat with Dante on facebook and skype in his low times and he says you always seem to feel what I am feeling and understand.  There is similarity as he has been tortured and through the horrors of war violence.  I have been through my horrors of domestic violence.  I have written articles on our counselling sessions but the nursing journals have not published as yet.  This I need to pursue as I feel we have a lot to share with you all on our journey of healing.  I always try to get to grips with what is happening to me and others. That is part of me being me.. Marjorie.

Subdued yesterday here is why

Put this on the petition update yesterday. Today had dialogue with someone that wants to help me! Actually from E.on the power supply that wants to help me with their bills as they are hearing and seeing I need some help. We talked of how to help other women nationwide.

13 JUL 2017 — I have decided to share with you all what it has felt like today after being cautioned for not getting a TV licence. Yes the drop in benefits money means it is difficult to keep on top of bills. So this morning had representative round to the door. I tried to stay cool and calm and under caution said, the evidence is this and showed my scar on my arm where I have the pin and plate and that I was also 63 yrs and denied my State Pension and that benefits keep dropping so I go for long periods of time without money. I have to try and feed myself with what little I get and have demands on me to pay housing benefit cap.

I am proactive as you all know and try to get paid work no one seems interested in me, so I fashion projects and try to get funding to help me. But this is not yielding as I would like to gain some financial dignity. The guy sent round wanted to come in my OAP sheltered bungalow but this felt a gross invasion of privacy. I told him this was allocated me to give me space to heal and rebuild but in the present DWP ill written policies I am now threatened with eviction as a 63yrs old woman that has worked since Nov 1969 and paid tax. I told him with the caution I am a victim of crime yet you are making me feel a criminal. Of course it is an offence not to have a TV licence. But if I have the money I would pay this, as all my other bills. I need like so many women on this journey to rebuild FINANCIAL DIGNITY. But I lost my cool was like a volcano closed the door and let rip in anger with all the pain I am in. I feel ashamed this is happening to me and that I did not see through the scam I had fallen into with my Moroccan husband and it makes you feel dirty to have had violent attacks upon you. It hurts like hell that the country that is your motherland with ancestors that have been on this land since ancient Briton time.... that all family members have paid tax to every King and Queen of this government that you are treated like this. I used to feel proud of our taxation system that provides services and support to those in need at time of need. That it would be there for me too to be helped. I am not lazy readers you know this you can feel my proactive energy. But today as with all these situations I have laid like a wounded animal - it makes you feel you can NEVER escape the pain of the abuse. Every time you feel you are moving away from the pain these situations twang you back to the pain. Even my arm has been hurting today and I felt sick...
Now I ask you is this the way you want our society to be? to treat women on their journey of healing and rebuilding their lives like this? I am not the only one there are cases upon cases of women being.... well I am going to use this strong word.. VIOLATED by an incompetent government that simply do not understand the front line of pain we are in and do NOT protect us with a STRONG AND STABLE PATHWAY. I am sat in my garden .. one of my cats aside me as they know when I am feeling down. All I want and need is financial dignity and with that the freedom to rebuild my life... of couse being driven by compassion the freedom to rebuild other women's lives and those of the refugees I help too...

A Society without compassion ceases to be a Society and we have to re-evaluate our society when it is built on £$£$£ profits only and not care of the people that make up the society - Citizens are the most valuable asset a society has and it is paramount to look after them in time of need. Surely?
I stress it is a Breach of State Duty of Care to not support women on their journey of healing and rebuild...

Woman's Group today

The woman's group was good today and the main theme that came out was how exhausted we can get yet try to push ourselves to meet demands on us.  But we also need to set aside time for us -  for a Therapeutic Selfie as I call it (lol not a naughty one) But a time for self to look after the whole being to have time to express self or simply rest.  The exhaustion is something I am witnessing in the counselling of my refugee family too. With all the traumatic situations they have been through and the constant struggle to rebuild their lives.  Think this something too that really needs to be appreciated by government both local and central.  It can be a struggle to rebuild your lives.  Especially when financially crippled by the perpetrators.  As we get older with all the aftermath effects it can take even more effort.  So it is no wonder we get energy crisis and feel exhausted.  So frustrating when you are trying to rebuild and the odds seem against it.  Today was hearing how women are not always completely free from their perpetrators even if divorced. There can be ongoing power struggles and sabotage on any property or assets they had jointly.  Or some perpetrators deliberately leaving some things in the house as if to exert some presence and control - even threaten the victim if she destroy the goods or disposes of them. The story today shared is so so typical of the perpetrators that of making themselves sound like Snow White to the wider community and that the wife the victim is the troublesome one.. So classic for this to paint the victim as a perpetrator and them squealing they are badly done by. So arrogant of them too as so many should be prosecuted and be in jail for all they have done to us women. but we protected them or stopped short of having them put away because of their control over us.  Or like in my case the CPS let my perpetrator go saying my nightstick fracture of the ulna was insufficient evidence. Sometimes you feel as if you have to have the knife held by the perpetrator and plunge in your body at the time of police coming to convince anyone that they did it.. Why is it that women's voices are not always heard and listened too. The UN reporteur for violence against women in war and peace time says it is a State Duty of Care to listen to women when they are ready to open up on the violent abuse, it is State Duty of Care to investigate the perpetrator, it is State Duty of Care to bring the perpetrator to accountability for his actions and it is a State Duty of Care that his behaviour be challenged to reform before being permitted back in society. It is a State Duty of Care to care for women to help them heal and rebuild their lives after surviving being victims of this abusive crime.

I like in the woman's group how we finish by pulling Angel Message cards. My cards giving me a feeling I am on the right track with all I am doing now.  I am enjoying planning the Residential Weekend for Women to heal and be Empowered.   Yes the Angel card is also guiding me to more meditative time to keep the spirituality atunement. Prayer and time to connect with Allah's energy that of Love is so vital to helping us keep balance in our lives.

Where is this funding?

Been looking for grants to put on my residential weekend and came across this on the gov.uk site.  It begs the question where is this money going as we on the front-line are not seeing this helping us.

Why are women seeing drops in DWP benefits for support?
Why are women having hassle from Bailiffs for said debts when the debts are from a failed system of support not her personal debts?
Why are women being threatened with eviction from their safe space their homes?
Why are women going hungry and needing foodbanks?
Why are women not getting legal aid to help with prosecutions and divorce?

I have asked our Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn and his team to question the PM for transparency of accounts and to show the audit and measures of outcome on this funding. We really need to know how this is being utilised.  As it stands at this moment of time women are NOT getting the support and this constitutes a breach of State Duty of Care to UN directives on care of women subject to violence in war and peace time.  Challenge badly written DWP policies that are failing women on their journey of recovery & their need to rebuild their lives....

Spa tester for the weekend plans

Been trying out the spa in the hotel on the Brunel University campus.. It was part of something that I needed to help me with my continued healing but was part of my assessment of the facilities for the residential weekend I am planning.

The weekend will be to Heal and Empower Women that have been subject to domestic violence and abuse.  The weekend I want to be a Cleopatra time in among some practical ways to cope and rebuild their lives.

I am in the process of building a planning powerpoint to look at the interplay of workshops to help detox from the negative abuse and become positive.  To reconnect with the self that she feels she has lost with the constant put me downs and attacks on her very being.

I needed to try out and assess as I have one woman that has mobility problems since her attack and another that has developed mobility problems with medical problems since her abuse.  I know the facilities will help but need to be sure they can be used safely.  I feel they can with me helping as the retired nurse that I am.
ohhh perfect Lady Marjorie always finds a way and will always find a way of helping others too.  lool those knees not too bad for over 60 and actually feel so much more comfortable after the spa visit. So many lives need rebuilding and with love. care and compassion.  I met one of my ladies on the way home on the bus. It brings tears to my eyes to see her with her mobility frame and to think her "husband" did that to her... Not worthy of the name husband and not a man is he!  So many men get angry with other men that hurt women.  But we have to focus on the rebuild of women's lives and put the love back in her and to see her value in the world. It was upsetting on the bus on the way home as the bus driver was making an issue about her mobility frame and this really seemed so utterly sad of the society we seem to be slipping into?! We cannot lose our compassion - as a society without compassion ceases to be a society.
Busy time with a nice coffee after my trial of the spa .. with further study on the the effects of traumatic experiences and how to counsel through.  Some good points in this book on Trauma.  This is what is needed for our government to see women need a strong and stable platform of support to help her heal and empower her to rebuild her life.  We cannot have drops in DWP support that causes more depression and feelings of being of no value.    I am so grateful of my dear friend given me a tenner the other day ... this is what I used it on a spa visit and coffee... and all in my drive to get help to other women too with my love. Lets keep the pressure on for a reform of the DWP to provide a strong and stable pathway of support to healing and empowerment.

Weekend retreat and healing

Today I took Premlata to the spa hotel on the Brunel Campus for her to see for the weekend retreat I am planning for Women to Heal and be Empowered. Premlata is a beautician, does aromatherapy massage and bridal make up she is kindly and caring with a keen interest to help women to be empowered. With this find the Goddess within to shine through and break out of the cage of abuse and oppression.  She loved this place especially with the spa for women to enjoy. So the plans are moving on with Seb the event co-ordinator guiding me through.  We are looking for sponsors for the weekend so the women aiming for 10 can attend for Free to get the support and boost they need to move on the journey to rebuilding their confidence.  University departments will be helping to input on the journey with art and creative writing too!

Contact me if you would like to be a sponsor. There will be a high profile of advertising of your company to help your business too.

and let me know if you are interested in attending a weekend retreat to help you heal on your journey if you have been a victim of domestic violence and abuse.  Time to be an Empowered Survivor and reconnect with the YOU...the you that has been caged up in oppression and pain. Time to break free and rebuild your life. We can do this together with our helpers and guides on the journey to empowerment.

Trauma counselling

I am a graduate nurse and midwife with counselling skills but as you know been on the journey of abuse and needing healing from violence and trauma on my very being by two rogue husbands.  The journey now to understand more to help others rebuild their lives as I rebuild mine is pulling me to learn more.  Of course of the last two years I have been counselling and befriending my Syrian refugee family that have been displaying deep post traumatic stress that is likened to the shell shock first written about in soldiers returning from the trenches in WW1.... So I am observing patterns and themes of reactions to the journey of the aftermath of trauma.

The book Trauma - a practitioner's guide to counselling is very well set out with some good chapters to follow.  Just been sat in my garden to get an overview before studying in more depth.

Active week so far

Had lunch yesterday with my eldest grand-daughter in a favourite cafe in Uxbridge. Love their quirky tea pots.
I have had an amazing week so far.  With women supporters coming round to talk at my home and share their stories and offer ways of improving the pathway of recovery healing and survivorship following domestic violence and abuse.  I have continued to hear how the system fails women. In an email to our local mayor and the London mayor with copy to my MP I have put that:-

No woman should be having drops in DWP support.
No woman should be getting hassled by bailiffs for said debts in council tax and rent when the debt is from the system failing her with drops in support.
No woman should be threatened with eviction from a safe home.
No woman should be going hungry and needing foodbanks
No woman should feel that the system is making her feeling valueless.
Now woman should feel she as completely lost financial dignity.

Women have been abused physically, emotionally, psychologically manipulated by their perpetrator and have been financially abused to need as much support as she can get from the community to help her heal and rebuild.

It is failure of state duty of care to fail women in their support needs.

The week included a meeting with the event co-ordinator at Brunel University to plan a special weekend to Heal and Empower women so more on this later when the plans develop....

One of my women supporters sent some yummy food round to me too.  I have received some help to keep my sheltered bungalow so very grateful for this.

We had a recommence of the Wednesday group after a two week break.

The positive from the group meeting was one survivor looking radiant her divorce complete and she had done something she had not done for awhile. She had the confidence to drive to relatives in the north of England.  She had been so controlled and put down that it had shaken her confidence.  She and her relatives rejoiced in this ability to get out and be free again.

Breaking out of a cage of oppression and abuse with support..... can lead to amazing things happening...... and a woman regaining her inner Goddess again.
